- Jeep tries to simplify its Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer lineup for the 2026 model year by folding the Wagoneer nameplate into the Grand Wagoneer line.
- Powertrains will carry over with the twin-turbo 3.0-liter Hurricane straight-six.
- A new series hybrid will arrive at some later date to replace the slow-selling battery-electric Wagoneer S.
For the coming 2026 model year, Jeep will simplify its model line by folding the more affordable Wagoneer into the Grand Wagoneer nameplate and adding a series hybrid powertrain as a future option.
First, the names.
What used to be called just the Wagoneer by Jeep will now be the Jeep Grand Wagoneer. And what used to be called the Grand Wagoneer will still be called that but with Jeep in front of it, like this: Jeep Grand Wagoneer. See?

There will be three main trims of Jeep Grand Wagoneer, presented here in ascending order of splendor: the Jeep Grand Wagoneer (what you could call a base model), Jeep Grand Wagoneer Limited, and Jeep Grand Wagoneer Summit. All three trim levels will come in your choice of 4×2 or 4×4 and in short- and long-wheelbase models. So gone now are the old Series I, Series II, and Series III trims. On top of those are Upland, Altitude, and Obsidian trim packages.
The off-road-ready Upland package adds Selec-Speed Control; locking in-vehicle safe; active two-speed transfer case; limited-slip differential; 3.92 final drive; trailer light monitoring; Quadra-Lift air suspension; semi-active damping; fuel tank, transfer case, and front-axle skid plates; trailer tire-pressure monitoring system; trailer brake control; trailer hitch zoom/line-up assist; removable rear tow hooks; Vapor front tow hooks; blind-spot monitoring with trailer tow detection system; 20-inch aluminum painted wheels; and all-season tires.

Spacious interior makes the three-row comfy.
(All this is being done to simplify the model lineup, believe it or not.)
Prices will start at $64,740, including destination, for a Grand Wagoneer 4×2 (aka base model), and from there you can load it up to a LWB 4×4 Grand Wagoneer Summit Obsidian for $99,525. The base price goes up by $2,700 compared to the cheapest 2025 Wagoneer you could buy.
Is this confusing? Well keep holding on.
All three trim levels will share the same basic powertrain, the same 3.0-liter twin-turbo Hurricane inline-six that powers the 2025 models, making the same 420 hp at 5200 rpm and 468 lb-ft of torque at 3500 revs. That goes through a Torqueflite 8HP75 automatic eight-speed with overdrive and a single-speed transfer case to create a full-time active 4×4.

Jeep says all those models have a towing capacity of 10,000 pounds.
Coming at an undisclosed future date will be what Jeep calls a Range-Extending Electric Vehicle, basically a series hybrid. In that model there will be a 3.6-liter V6 that sends all its power and torque directly to spin a 130-kW generator that makes electricity to charge an onboard 92-kWh battery. Electricity from that battery then powers electric motors at the front and rear axles that then spin the wheels and make the car go forward.
That series hybrid model does not replace the all-electric Wagoneer S of the 2025 model year, Jeep says, a model which, Jeep points out, outsold the Cadillac Optiq, but that was only in the first quarter of this year. Totals for the first half of 2025 saw the Optiq ahead, 4940 sales to 3668.

The Upland package is for off-road-readiness. Canoe sold separately.
The Wagoneer S should have done well, given that the all-electric Wagoneer S offered your choice of 500 or 600 hp, an EPA range of 294 miles, and a 0-60-mph time of 3.4 seconds. But we digress.
Wrapping the exteriors of all those new 2026 Jeeps will be “authentic, refreshed exterior design (that) elevates the lineup with an all-new front fascia, a chrome-free exterior, cross-car signature lighting, all-new wheel designs and new exterior colors.

“With the refreshed 2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer, we’re delivering more than just bold design and refined craftsmanship: We’re offering competitive pricing that ensures exceptional value in the large SUV segment,” said Bob Broderdorf, Jeep brand CEO.
Competitors in that segment, Jeep said of its 2025 models, include the GMC Yukon Denali, Cadillac Escalade, Lincoln Navigator, Lexus LX, and even the Infiniti QX80.
The 2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer is expected to go on sale toward the end of this year, but here’s where it gets tricky. At launch, the only trims available will be Grand Wagoneer, Limited Altitude, and Summit Obsidian. These dark trims launch first. Later will be the bright packages for Limited and Summit.
Did you get all that?
Production for the new model was slated to begin in the third quarter of this year, with deliveries to dealerships commencing shortly after.
