Daughter Kills Her Dad After Being Told To Move Out

‘Upset about being told she had to move out’: Daughter ‘went shopping’ after murdering father and attacking mother for evicting her

Christina Anne Adams (Fifth Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office).

A 33-year-old woman in Florida will spend the remainder of her days behind bars for killing her father and attempting to kill her mother because they asked her to move out of their home, stabbing both parents inside the residence before fleeing the scene. Judge Timothy McCourt on Wednesday ordered Christina Anne Adams to serve two consecutive sentences of life in a state correctional facility for the murder of her father, Richard Langer, and the attempted murder of her mother, Sally Langer, authorities announced.

“Our fundamental duty is to seek justice, and in pursuing this goal, we strive to provide closure for the victims and their families while ensuring accountability for those responsible,” Fifth Judicial Circuit Chief Assistant State Attorney Walter Forgie said in a statement following the sentencing hearing. “Today, as difficult as it has been for the victims and their families, I believe we’ve gotten just that.”

According to a news release from the Fifth Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office, on Sept. 16, 2022, deputies with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call regarding a stabbing that “had just occurred.”

Upon arriving at the scene, first responders entered a residence in the 100 block of SE 70th Terrace in Ocala, Florida. Once inside the home, deputies located two victims — an adult male and an adult female — both of whom appeared to have suffered multiple stab wounds.

“While rendering aid to both victims, Victim One, who was later identified as Richard Langer, stated to officials that his daughter stabbed them,” the release states. “A law enforcement alert bulletin was issued and shortly later, a traffic stop was conducted on Adams’ vehicle, which was also occupied by her wife.”

Adams and her wife were both taken into custody following the traffic stop. During the subsequent interview, Adams’ wife “relayed to law enforcement that she had just finished running a few errands before meeting the defendant at the grocery store,” prosecutors said.

“She indicated to detectives that she did not notice anything out of the norm for the defendant nor did the defendant mention any altercation prior,” according to prosecutors.

However, when Adams was questioned, detectives said that her recollection of events “did not match up with the statements given by her spouse.”

“[Adams] later told detectives that she was angry over being asked to leave the home that she shared with the victims. Adams stated she retrieved a large knife and then attacked both victims, stabbing them multiple times,” the Marion County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement, per ABC News. “Adams stated after she believed the victims were deceased, she attempted to destroy evidence and then left the location. Adams told detectives that following the attack, she changed her clothing and went shopping.”

However, it was her father who identified her as his assailant just before he died, the Tampa Free Press reported.

After stabbing her parents until she believed they were both dead, a Florida woman left the scene to shop. What she didn’t know was that her father had a bit more time left — and her mother would make it out alive.

On Wednesday, April 16, Christina Anne Adams received two life sentences for the 2022 murder of her father, 74-year-old Richard Langer, and attempted murder of her mother, Sally Langer, per The Ccala StarBanner.

The Fifth Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office announced the news of Adams’ sentencing in an April 17 press release, stating that jurors required only a brief deliberation before finding Adams, 33, guilty of premeditated murder in the first degree and attempted first degree murder with a deadly weapon.

The murder and attempted murder occurred in Ocala, Fla., on Sept. 16, 2022, when, after being told she would have to move out of their shared residence, Adams stabbed both of her parents, per the press release. The attack fatally injured her father, but the now-convicted murderer left the scene believing that both of her parents were dead.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) responded to the scene after Adams’ father called for help, ABC News reported at the time. He reported that he had been stabbed, and also identified his attacker as Adams, the outlet reported.

After deputies responded to the Ocala residence, they located both victims — later identified as Richard and Sally — with multiple stab wounds, according to the attorney’s office. While receiving medical aid, Richard once again told authorities that his daughter had stabbed them. He later died.

Shortly after, authorities located Adams, who was driving in a vehicle with her wife nearby. Both women were detained and interviewed by detectives, officials said.

The spouse told authorities that she had just finished running some errands before meeting up with Adams at the grocery store, per the attorney’s office. She also said Adams had not told her about any altercation, and she indicated she did not notice anything out of the ordinary.

Meanwhile, Adams denied involvement in the stabbing, but her series of events did not match up with that of her spouse, leading her to confess, officials said.

Adams said that after she believed her parents to be dead, she “attempted to destroy evidence and then left the location,” the MCSO said in a statement at the time, per ABC News. She also told detectives that after the attack, “she changed her clothing and went shopping.”

“[Adams] later told detectives that she was angry over being asked to leave the home that she shared with the victims,” the MCSO said. “Adams stated she retrieved a large knife and then attacked both victims, stabbing them multiple times.”

Following Adams’ confession, Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods dubbed the stabbings “senseless acts of violence,” which he said were “shocking to all of us,” per ABC News.

“I’m very proud of my deputies and detectives that worked so quickly to not only provide aid to the victims but also to capture such an evil person and ensure that our streets are safe,” added the sheriff.
