Sattahip Drunk Driver Found Asleep in Middle of Road After Parking Car to Rest
Sattahip —
A Thai man parked his car on the side of the road in Sattahip to rest due to being too intoxicated. However, he was later found sleeping outside his car in the middle of the road.
The incident occurred on June 22nd, 2024, on Highway 332, kilometer 3/900, between the Kasem Pol Intersection and the Jae Intersection in the Sattahip district, Chonburi province. Sattahip police responded to the scene at 5:50 AM after receiving a report from a group of cyclists that a sedan was parked on the side of the road and its driver was unconscious on the ground nearby.
Upon arrival, officers found a white Mazda 2 sedan by the roadside with the engine turned off. The driver, identified only as Mr. Natthaphum, 36, was found intoxicated and lying asleep on the road, blocking the left lane. He was not wearing a shirt and was only wearing black shorts.
Mr. Natthaphum was so deeply asleep that it took officers over 10 minutes to wake him up and get him to stand up. Fortunately, he was not hit by any passing vehicles and was completely fine.

Mr. Natthaphum revealed to local media that he had been drinking at a restaurant before the incident. After the restaurant closed, he attempted to drive home, which was about 5 kilometers away. However, he could not recall what happened between leaving the restaurant and waking up in the middle of the road.
Sattahip police suspected that Mr. Natthaphum may have intentionally parked his car and fallen asleep in an attempt to avoid being caught at an alcohol checkpoint.
Mr. Natthaphum was given water to wash his face and sober up. Police contacted his family to help drive him home. The man reportedly did not face charges.

A Thai transwoman failed to escape a drunk driving arrest at a checkpoint in the northern province of Lampang, so she opted to bite and punch one of the police officers during her arrest.
Officers from Mueang Lampang Police Station set up the checkpoint on Duangrat Road in the Suan Dok sub-district, Mueang district, Lampang, on the night of Sunday, October 13. The incident occurred at around 2.45am when the transwoman, believed to be about 30 years old, arrived at the scene.
The suspect was driving her black pickup along the road when she noticed the checkpoint. She attempted to make a U-turn to avoid the officers but her suspicious behaviour prompted the police to rush to her vehicle and stop her.
Officers found that the transwoman was intoxicated and asked her to exit the vehicle for an alcohol test. She refused the test and began verbally abusing the police with vulgar language.
According to a report from KomChadLuek, officers pulled the transwoman from the car and dragged her to the checkpoint for the test. Unexpectedly, she resisted violently and attacked the police.
She punched one of the officers and later bit him on the left leg. Additional officers intervened and managed to restrain her. Rescuers were called to the scene to provide first aid to the injured officer.
The police did not disclose the level of alcohol in her system but stated that she would face two charges, including:

Just another day at the Jersey Shore.
Police in Seaside Park, New Jersey, had their hands full over the weekend with a drunk Pennsylvania woman who allegedly led officers on a high-speed chase — traveling in excess of 70 mph in a 35-mph zone at one point — before eventually pulling over, according to officials.
But that’s not the worst of it.
Jessica Hayes, 30, allegedly assaulted three cops as they attempted to place her under arrest — one of whom she bit on the leg, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office reports.
“Quite frankly, we are lucky no one else was injured by her reckless behavior on a very busy Saturday at the Jersey Shore,” said Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer.
Hayes had been reported to police by someone at a local Wells Fargo Bank, who thought she was acting suspiciously.
“As Seaside Park Police Officers were speaking to Hayes, a New Jersey State Park Police Officer arrived and advised that he had attempted to stop Hayes as she was leaving Island Beach State Park,” officials explained in a press release. “The New Jersey State Park Police Officer witnessed Hayes operating a blue Hyundai…traveling in excess of 70 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone. Hayes ignored commands to pull over and continued out of Island Beach State Park at a high rate of speed…continued north on Central Avenue into Seaside Park, reaching speeds of 60 miles per hour while weaving in and out of traffic.”
Fearing for the public’s safety, the officer “terminated his pursuit” and waited for Hayes to pull over. She eventually stopped at the Wells Fargo and was promptly reported to police.
“Hayes displayed signs of intoxication and field sobriety tests were performed at the bank,” the prosecutor’s office said. “While attempting to place Hayes under arrest, she resisted and assaulted two Seaside Park Police Officers and one New Jersey State Park Police Sergeant.”
Billhimer added, “It’s my understanding that Hayes caused minor injuries to two Seaside Park Police Officers and that she actually bit a State Park Police Sergeant on his leg.”
“All of the Officers involved did a great job and it looks like they will all be OK,” he said. “Hayes is being evaluated at a local hospital, she will be transported to the Ocean County Jail once she is medically cleared.”
The Bensalem woman was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, eluding, aggravated assault, resisting arrest, obstruction and three different motor vehicle violations. It’s unclear when she’s due in court.
