Drunk woman dragged off flight after violent meltdown over ‘fat’ seatmate
An inebriated woman was dragged off a Southwest Airlines flight by police after grabbing another female passenger’s hair and throwing a tantrum at New York’s LaGuardia Airport.
Video from the cabin prior to takeoff early Tuesday shows passengers filming as several travellers and flight crew try to take down the woman as she holds onto another woman’s hair and calls her a “fat-a** b****.”
One person tries to calmly tell her to “let go of her hair,” which the woman responds to by grinning and denying doing — despite clearly holding a fistful of the other passenger’s locks.
Another passenger attempting to free the woman’s hair adds, “You can’t do that. You need to let go right now.”
While still holding tight onto the woman’s hair, the drunk passenger can be heard telling someone snippily, “I’m sorry, I didn’t want to sit next to a f***ing fat lady.”
Leanna Perry, 32 — an artist and designer who works for Maybelline New York, according to the New York Post — eventually lets go of the woman’s hair but wasn’t finished attacking her and launches a tirade at her and other passengers as airline employees and others restrain her.
“Ugly a** bitch,” Perry rants before trying to spit on the woman while others work on zip-tying her wrists behind her back.
Perry then says that she “can’t breathe” and falls to the floor between seats, the clip shows.
She then begins violently kicking and screaming expletives, according to another video posted on Reddit.
One flyer can be heard asking, “Can anybody do something, please?” as Perry continues to flail about.

She then becomes emotional and tells everyone to leave her alone before going into another expletive-ridden tantrum before the video ends.

- Spencer Tepe and his wife Monique Tepe were found dead inside their Ohio home on Dec. 30
- Authorities are investigating their deaths as homicides
- Investigators have not yet named a suspect or person of interest in the case
Authorities in Ohio have disclosed the apparent causes of death for a slain Ohio couple whose bodies were found in their home last week, but the official coroner’s report remains pending.
Spencer Tepe and his wife Monique Tepe were found slain in their Columbus home on Dec. 30 by police responding to calls for welfare checks on the couple. The Office of Coroner Nathaniel R. Overmire at the Franklin County Forensic Science Center tells PEOPLE the apparent causes of deaths for the couple were gunshot wounds.
In an incident report reviewed by PEOPLE, the Columbus Division of Police said 37-year-old Spencer and 39-year-old Monique were pronounced deceased at the scene.
Their deaths are being investigated as homicides, per the report.
An official cause of death is yet to be released, pending other details required for the coroner’s determination, such as toxicology reports, the coroner’s office tells PEOPLE.
Police previously said Spencer suffered several gunshot wounds and Monique was shot in the chest once, according to a report previously cited by WSYX. The coroner’s office declined to confirm this information and directed PEOPLE to Columbus police.
Investigators at the Columbus Division of Police did not respond to PEOPLE’s requests for comment.
The investigation began after Spencer’s concerned coworker told police he did not show up for work, which was uncharacteristic of him, WSYX previously reported.
“We can’t get in touch with his wife, which is probably the more concerning thing,” Dr. Mark Valrose told police.

“I can hear kids inside, and I think I heard one yell,” the caller said, according to dispatch audio. “But we can’t get in.”
Spencer and Monique were known among loved ones for their warmth, kindness and dedication to building a life “rooted in love,” their family said in a statement following their killings.
“They were extraordinary people whose lives were filled with love, joy, and deep connection to others,” read part of the statement shared with PEOPLE by Spencer’s brother-in-law Rob Misleh.
“We are heartbroken beyond words,” read the statement, adding that the family is “committed to seeing this tragedy fully and fairly brought to justice.”

NEED TO KNOW
- A woman in Hong Kong was arrested after attacking a dozen police officers with a meat cleaver
- The altercation allegedly started when her phone died while trying to pay a restaurant bill
- CCTV footage caught the fight, which took place on Saturday, Jan. 3
A viral video captured a customer’s fight after she allegedly couldn’t pay for her meal with her phone.
On Saturday, Jan. 3, a 32-year-old woman attempted to pay for food at a noodle restaurant in Hong Kong but her phone was dead, Newsflare reported.
Despite restaurant employees offering to help the woman charge her phone in the restaurant and “there was nothing overly unusual about her behaviour,” the restaurant owner said, the situation quickly escalated as the customer allegedly took a meat cleaver and pair of scissors from the restaurant. Other diners fled the restaurant and the owner called the police.
A dozen members of the Hong Kong Police Force were dispatched, each wearing helmets and holding shields and batons, per South China Morning Post.
Released CCTV footage shows the woman standing in the empty restaurant, which has food, phones and chopsticks strewn across the floor. Half of the group of officers entered the restaurant from the main entrance and the woman immediately charged at them, swinging the cleaver at their shields. The other six officers entered the restaurant from a side entrance and came up behind the woman seemingly in an attempt to disarm her. South China Morning Post reports that officers used pepper spray.
Finally, the officers corral the woman and another clip shows her being taken out of the restaurant in a stretcher. She sustained a minor hand injury and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The incident lasted 15 minutes, per reports.
Outlets report that she was arrested on suspicion of “possessing an offensive weapon, criminal damage, and assaulting police officers.”
PEOPLE reached out to the Hong Kong police but did not immediately hear back.

- A father has been left injured after stopping an armed man from kidnapping his child
- The suspect allegedly pulled out a knife during the struggle before fleeing the scene
- The man was indicted by a grand jury on multiple charges, including attempted kidnapping
A father has been left injured after stopping an armed man from kidnapping his child at a Walmart in Oregon, police say.
On Friday, Jan. 2, the WCSO Cornelius Police announced via Facebook that a man had been arrested for alleged attempted kidnapping in Cornelius after being called to the retailer on Dec. 21. Officials added, “The caller reported that a man attempted to take their child from their stroller inside the store and was armed with a knife.”
While the father was able to stop the suspect from taking the child out of the stroller, he was injured from the incident. “As they struggled, the attacker pulled a knife from a pocket, but fortunately dropped it,” the police wrote.

After PEOPLE’s request for comment, Walmart deferred questions to authorities. PEOPLE has contacted the WCSO Cornelius Police for further information.
Police said that the suspect fled the scene in a white jeep before authorities arrived. “A witness provided the vehicle’s license plate number, and responding officers began searching for the vehicle,” they said.
The police added, “The suspect was identified as the vehicle’s registered owner, 37-year-old Denis Villalobos of Cornelius.”
A Forest Grove officer found Villalobos near the Walmart store. He was then taken to the Washington County Jail.
A week later, on Dec. 29, “a Washington County Grand Jury heard evidence supporting the investigation,” the police continued, adding that an indictment was issued for charges of attempted kidnapping in the second degree, assault in the second degree, assault in the fourth degree, unlawful use of a weapon and menacing.
“It’s kind of scary. Especially the fact that he lives around this neighborhood,” the child’s mother told KOIN. “It’s actually nice to live in a small community where we have the police department around the area doing their job and [are] very close by. So we’re, we’re very thankful for that.”
WCSO Corporal David Huey told the outlet that Villalobos allegedly followed the family during their time at Walmart. “He looks like he’s staring at the child as the family walks by. And they don’t even know who he is,” Huey said. “It’s almost as if the suspect was stalking them in a sense.”
